BETA X DOLLAR LITTER

This is Beta’s blog page where I will be posting pictures of the pups, commenting on what we are doing with them, and posting the milestones that they reach.  Click on the thumbnail photos for larger pictures.  Feel free to save them on your own computer if you like.

2/24/2011 Puppies are born! Starting at 5:10am and ending at 4:20pm, Beta delivered 7 healthy puppies.  6 boys (three black, three yellow) and 1 yellow girl.

2/25/2011 ~ Pups are getting stronger by the minute and are making their demands known to momma! The lone female is not taking any “stuff” from her brothers either.

They have started on their “socialization” as well with Gage taking part in introduction to cuddling and snuggling with youngsters.  They have also been introduced to the dishwasher, pots and pans being washed, and the smells of home cooking since they are being raised in our kitchen.

2/26/2011 ~ Pups went to the vet today for health checks and dew claw removal.  All 7 are fat and growing steadily. Each pup has gained a minimum of 5 ozs which puts them all over 1 lb.  They will double that weight within the next two-three days.  The yellows have also started getting their pigment on their ears, lips, noses, and toes.

Beta was rather upset with me for taking her pups from her for their vet appointment.  Not only did she get so worked up about it that she threw up all over, but she then refused to look at me for at least 2 hours later as evidenced by the photos!

2/27/2011~ The pups continue to grow and get more mobile.  There are a couple that voice their complaints with tiny growls and barks.  All of the pups are closing in on 2lbs already.  They will be sporting new colored collars tomorrow.

2/28/2011~ The pups are now sporting their new colored collars.  The orange collared yellow is the lone female “Ginger” , she is sold.  I took the last three pictures without using the flash which really lightens up the pups’ coats. Although my camera settings want to blur the photo without the flash, it gives you a better idea of just how dark the yellows are in “real life”.

3/01/2011 ~ Welcome March! Can’t wait until daylight savings time! Pups are learning to bask in the sunlight (yep, we finally got some today!) and they are wanting more! No new pictures tonight, but we will update them tomorrow with individual and group shots after they get their toenails trimmed. They are almost triple their size now from birth, and almost 2 1/2 times their birth weight! Momma is treating them like royalty which is what happens when you “only” have 7 mouths to feed and butts to clean!

3/02/2011~ Pups are getting rather mobile, as their pictures will attest ! There were over 60 “out takes” were one or more were facing the wrong direction or were crawling all over the others or blocking the view of it’s siblings.  They are also the pudgiest pups that Beta has ever had which of course just makes them that much cuter!

3/4/2011~ Pups have grown out of their first set of collars…..ALREADY! On the bright side, the new ones are wider and easier to see.  Same colors on the same pups.  Clipped their toenails again as well, this will be an ongoing thing until they go home.  We play with their feet a lot so that they do not mind having it done.  They are getting up on all fours and stumbling around like drunken sailors, I am looking forward to next week when their eyes open.  Right now, they still resemble fat little piglets.

3/07/2011~ Here are some updated pictures of the pups. Of course they are sleeping, since that is all they do….besides eating and pooping that is!  They are the biggest pups that we have had in a long time, of course that does not mean that they are going to get any larger than mom or dad, but they are definitely eating well!

.

3/08/2011~ See how we have grown! The pups’ eyes are just starting to peek open a bit.  They should have their eyes open by this weekend or shortly after.

"BEFORE"

"AFTER" age 1 1/2 weeks

3/09/2011~ Do you see what I see? Little peepers are peeking and pups are starting to get their “sea legs”.  What a difference just a day makes! By this time next week, they will be starting to climb out of the pool and their teeth will be starting to come in.
